God chose us to be His children
A wonderful truth in the Bible is that we are chosen by God to be a part of His family.
Our Father has displayed his infinite love for us by providing a way that we can be saved from our sins and the separation from Him that these cause.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ paved the way for a universal salvation – an offer of salvation that is available to everyone. But this salvation is conditional on the fact that we must first accept His offer of being saved.
Our Father in His foreknowledge knows exactly how each of us would respond and actively chose those who accepted His offer and elected them to salvation.
As you read this excerpt from the Christian book Letters from Home, consider how wonderful it is that the Almighty Creator and Redeemer of the universe loves us so much that He chose us to become His sons and daughters and enter His family.

So, so beautiful.
I wonder how different evangelism would be if we didn’t approach people begging them to believe–if instead we interviewed them to see if they were part of The Chosen. I’m not expressing myself well, but many toss Christ aside with arrogance, when they should be hoping, praying that they were made with ears to hear.
Hi Lisa,
I’m not sure that I understand your comment, but the view of God having provided salvation for everyone and has chosen those who He knew would accept His offer certainly does promote evangelistic endeavours, compared to the alternative view that God has only elected and chosen a few people.
You left an intriguing comment – it would be interesting if you could elaborate a little further.
All the best,
Neil
I meant that being chosen is such a privilege (even though I had free will to do so), but the world at large doesn’t see it that way. I’m not serious about this, but it occurred to me that if we said–”Hey, there’s this “club” and it’s pretty exclusive because narrow is the way and -not many have what it takes (ears to hear) to get in.” I guess I think it’s human nature to want something more when it feels special, exclusive, harder to obtain. The world at large doesn’t see becoming a follower of Christ in this way, and maybe that’s because of how we present Him. What if we said, “I don’t know if following Christ is for you. I don’t know if you have the ears to hear–but I’m willing to talk with you and explore it. No pressure on your part–not everyone’s eyes open to Truth and Salvation.”
It was just a thought.
Hi Lisa,
I think you maybe onto something here: presenting the gospel as an exclusive invitation. I like that a lot – definitely food for thought.
Thanks for sharing.

Under the circumstance I came to know the Lord*, I absolutely believe and agree God is the One who has chosen us to come to Him, and not we who have chosen to receive Him. Not that we are without a choice, but that He knew our hearts, how we would respond to Him.
Ephesians 1:6 (NAS) says it clearly …
He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,
Thankfully, God chose to lead us to Himself, otherwise we would all be lost.

Hi Edmond,
It’s wonderful to know that we are able to trust the Bible because we experience it’s truths first-hand in our lives!
